Nurse, I finished reading the one on the BBC website a few days ago, very sombre reading

Re: Lockerbie
I drove past Lockerbie early hours this morning.

I’m now parked at the 02.

Re: Lockerbie
I spent a week in Lockerbie in the mid-90s. It was quiet and eerie, but for all I know it might have been like that before the crash. Strangest thing was seeing loads of photos of David Coulthard in the front windows of the houses.

Re: Lockerbie
My uncle is a fireman up there and helped go round gathering up the bodies. He found one bloke enbedded in a golf course like a spear and another girl still strapped in her seat with her fingers crossed

:-(

Hah! Started reading this - agree it's very tough, but the moment I got to the end of the first sentence, Joan Armatrading's "Drop the Pilot" popped up on my jukebox for musical company.

A fella I knew was on the plane going on his honeymoon, he used to play bass guitar with a mates band The Warm Jets and also played with Be-Bop Deluxe and Cockney Rebel. East Ham lad as well :-(

Re: Lockerbie
Everything about this atrocity was more than usually vile, including the deliberate stitch up and scapegoating of Megrahi and Libya

Johnny Rotten and his missus were supposed to be on the flight

Re: Lockerbie
Good article.

I always seem to chance upon something like this every time I'm about to fly somewhere.

I'll be remembering this on my flight to Arizona on Tuesday 😡

Did Libya/McGrathi not do it then?

Re: Lockerbie
I don't know about Megrahi but Libya were definitely implicated weren't they?

Sorry, Len.

But at least those cacti would provide a nice soft landing.

Re: Lockerbie
No.

Almost certainly Palestinians. Sub-contracted by Iran. Revenge for the US shooting an Oranian plane out of the sky.

Then when Bush wanted to invade Iraq, he needed Iran and Syria onboard. So the UK Govt was told to drop their investigation (which was pointing towards Iran) as it would be a bit awkward diplomatically.

Re: Lockerbie
Until 2003, Libya had never formally admitted carrying out the 1988 Lockerbie bombing.

On 16 August 2003, Libya formally admitted responsibility for Pan Am Flight 103 in a letter presented to the president of the United Nations Security Council. Felicity Barringer of The New York Times said that the letter had "general language that lacked any expression of remorse" for the people killed in the bombing.[95] The letter stated that it "accepted responsibility for the actions of its officials".[96]

Almost as sad as this atrocity was the fact that Lorraine Kelly made her name as the local jock reporter on Lockerbie and subsequently got a promotion to London television. Can't stand the woman and her accent.

In order to unlock worldwide economic sanctions that were crippling them. It was as good as blackmail.

Have a read around, Cough.
